My 7 yr old has a better vocabulary than I do...

Persevere.

This is the word that Griffin used when I told him he needed to give the Boxcar Children Books a break and read his library books before they were due. He told me that he wanted to Persevere.

I looked at him and said, “Do you know what that means?” (I might add that I was thinking in my head…can I explain it if he asks?). He said, “To finish what I started.” Well who can argue with that! I guess I will take the library books back.

I actually looked it up to see the exact definition and he was more dead on than I realized. The official definition said, “to continue a course of action, etc. in spite of difficulty, opposition, etc.”

I guess I was the “difficulty, opposition” that Griffin was referring to.

Keeping me on my toes, this one.

PS-On the other end of the pendulum, I was trying to get Grady to quit playing with Mason outside of his school yesterday and I said, “C’mon Grady, mommy needs to go to Liquor Barn so we can get Aunt Linda & Uncle Tommy’s Rum.” Grady then spontaneously broke into a song and dance. He was singing, “I like to drink beer, I like to drink beer…I like to drink beer.” Luckily, Mason’s mom has a great sense of humor.

Griffin's Halloween Story

Griffin brought home a short Halloween story. This is what it said...

"The Haunted House on Halloween Night"

On Halloween when I was a little boy when a new boy moved in the house next door. The calendar said 3 more days till Halloween. The house next door was haunted and a dead zone. Good thing they had verizon wireless.

Who does Graham look like?

I hear all of the time that he looks like Griffin or that he looks just like Grady. So I posted pictures of all three of my boys at around 3 months of age. You decide...who does he look like?

You can vote on the poll to the right.

I was hanging out with Graham this morning and thought that he was especially cute today so I snapped a few pictures. And I was right, he was really cute this morning!

Who does Griffin take after?

Griffin came home with his spelling test from last week. #12 was republican and #13 was democrat. He spelled republican for both 12 and 13 (he spelled it right both times but didn’t spell democrat). Anyway, he received a 92% on his test. This is what his teacher wrote on his test, “This would not have happened if you were not reading a book and taking a spelling test at the same time. “  Who does he take after?

His Aunt Shannon. :)

Grady, Grady. Grady.

Grady was on a roll yesterday. Here are three of the many things that he said yesterday-

1. “I am Mitch McConnell and I approve this message.”

2. “Nobody beats Pieratts.” (Sung to the tune of the commercial)

3. “I have to concentrate, I am serious” (as he takes a piece of paper back to his bedroom to study at Griffin’s desk).

Stay tuned for more Gradisms......

Halloween 2008

We went to Jenny & Taylor's for pizza with friends and old neighbors and then Trick-or-Treated in our old neighborhood. It was a lot of fun.

3 Months Old

Well, we made it to the 3 month mark. That magic moment when, for whatever reason, it suddenly gets a little easier. Graham has been a really great baby and we consider ourselves lucky. :)
