Celebrating Mom's 60th Birthday

For my mom's birthday, my sister, Shannon, Griffin, Grady and I showed up in Atlanta and were waiting for mom when she got home from work on Friday. It was a great surprise and I think we pulled it off, at least she didn't let on that she knew anything. :) David made a delicous dinner and we celebrated by having cake and letting mom open a memory book that we had made. Her friends and family all contributed, sharing memories and pictures of mom throughout her life. It turned out to be better than we expected. How we spent the weekend was up to mom, so we took the boys and headed down to Stone Mountain on Saturday. We had beautiful fall weather and couldn't have asked for a better way to spend the day. We topped off the night with our favorite, Mexican. :) But wait, there was still more to come. On Sunday, we told mom that we were eating brunch with our GodParents on the way out of town but when we showed up at their house, SURPRISE, there were mom's brothers and sisters, her mother and lifelong friends standing at the doorway to greet mom. By her reaction, I really think we got her that time! Thanks to everyone who made the trip and the day so great. A special thanks to Barbara and Sam who prepared an incredible brunch and lent their time and their house so that we could do this for our mom.

Looks like a fabulous celebration. Susie looks too young to be 60!
